Medellín

We've been in Medellín for what I think technically is three days. It's hard to tell especially when your first day is really spent on a bus listening to the guy in front vomit. But anyway, here we are in the City of Eternal Spring. Because of Medellín's location nestled in a valley between two mountain ranges and because of it's elevation, it truly is a comfortable spring day everyday. It's amazing. It's the kind of spring where you can wear sandals, jeans, and a nice top and you don't even have to consider bringing a sweater because on this spring day the rain won't come and the sun will shine keeping you nice and warm.

Another thing about Medellín that Mark and I are rejoicing about. The people here in Medellín are really nice. Every chapter in the guidebooks tells you that as you sip coffee in a cafè in yet another 'lovely town' or 'bustling metropolis' the kindness of the folk will make you happy you're there. Bullshit. Everyone we encounter (minus the family in Cali because they were after all, family) has not been that nice. They're straight up folk who don't care if you say thank you over and over again, they're annoyed you've interupted their novela watching to awkwardly order yet another dish of chicken, beans, and rice.

But here in Medellín the lady who registered us at our current hotel was really nice and even smiled. The porter loudly yells to us ¡Buenos Dias! as we venture out another day and the trendy faux-hawked guy serving us lunch could tell we kinda knew what we were ordering but were maybe a little nervous so after he served us he actually came back and asked us if we were okay with it! That has never happened. And yes we were okay with it. We were also just happy to find food. Even the cabbie last night, after scolding Mark for closing the car door too hard, and then showing him how to close the car door, chatted it up with us while he showed us all the amazing Christmas lights that are still up.

So for now we are just walking around in wonderful weather, seeing all the touristy things because that's what you do here, and I personally am enjoying the fact that we are apparently staying in the part of town where all the Transvestites hang out. That's right. Transvestites. Possibly even transgendered. I saw the craziest boobs on a guy yesterday. Like real boobs. Implants. I know it's weird that I'm going on about it but if you could've seen them you'd be amazed too. Anyway, they would put he/she's back at home to shame.

Farewell!
